"Beautiful isn't it?"

THE FACT THAT IT LITERALLY JUST???? IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SEE EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO THAT MANY STARS IN THE CITY BUT THEY WROTE????????? THIS IN???????? ANYWAY?????????????

Look at the stars, look how they shine for you…

I scrolled my dash for like five minutes trying to find this again because I couldn’t stop thinking about it, because the effort that must have gone into attaching this shot to this scene.

They either had to go off into the middle of nowhere to find somewhere that looked this magical to film, or they searched through tons of stock footage of stars to find the most epic one.  And then they either had to edit that wooden structure from their set into the sky footage, or they had to locate a set to film this from that looked like it could match the footage. They were just that freaking determined to get some insane romantic liquid glitter sky for them to gaze at.

Goddamn show.

Warning for romantic soppery:

The fact remains that the stars are not that bright in the city – which means that this is how these lads perceive the stars when they are together. There is a potential for so much romantic double-speak here, because stargazing is for lovers and philosophers (and Sherlock bloody deleted the solar system because it didn’t matter to him…so which one of those two categories is he currently falling into?)

J: When I am around you, the stars shine brighter.

S: I only notice the stars because of you.

I mean, I don’t for one second think that Sherlock would have mentioned the stars to anyone else…

But let’s consider John. John, who isn’t engaging much with life at the beginning of the show (hell, he isn’t even eating, really), whose life is dull, who says Nothing ever happens to me.

Enter Sherlock, and John is running and laughing and living. He’s eating, too, and with gusto. All of which makes Sherlock slow down just a little bit and notice – the ephemera of life and the universe and John. Which makes John revel in it more. It’s a feedback loop.

Because John may be Sherlock’s conductor of light – but Sherlock is John’s conductor of life.

Beautiful, isn’t it?
